This topic is very close to my heart. Let me say that the truth prevails, in this case actual names cannot be mentioned for the safety of the publisher (we are entering into the seedy underworld of the gospel, where men believe they have authority over life and death).

Spirit word ministries marvels with healings  and miracles, on the surface the church is beaming with charismatic energy. The walls are adorned with crutches and wheelchairs. The old drive in, in Stilfontein  can boast an enormous success, that would be except for the "prophets" poor health, which has raised many eyebrows within the Christian community. Many debate over the "immortality doctrine" which Kobus preaches, yet he is riddled with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment in France. The waif thin man can be seen on his free to air channel speaking once again to this followers. Looking dreadfully ill, there is an element of confusion as Kobus has quoted many times that living forever here on earth is attainable.

My story begins when a very troubled man who we will call John, stumbled across spirit word ministries. That is where he met a lady who we will call Susan. John was married and his wife did not attend church. Susan was recently divorced and was praying for a new husband. John and Susan secretly started seeing each other at church. When johns marriage took a dive for the worst he found himself taking comfort in this relationship with Susan. Susan went to see the "prophet" she explained her strong feelings for John. The "prophet" knew John, he had given many large donations to the ministry and was well know and liked within the inner circle. The "prophet" then had a dream about Susan and John together, which encouraged John to leave his wife and family and marry Susan. John proclaimed that God had given him a new family. The "old" family was then abandoned and left to fend for themselves with no say in the matter as the "prophet" had spoken.

There are many verses in the bible that are against divorce, these seem to be over looked in this case as the dream Kobus had was a confirmation that God condoned the affair John and Susan were having. This wouldn't be the case in many other churches, but then again how many other churches are preaching an "immortality doctrine" while the preacher himself is dying of cancer. It's a laughable joke, no one can possibly take this seriously. The unfortunate part is that there are fools like John in this world who fall for this outright rubbish and throw away their loved ones for a deception.

One can only hope that common sense will kick in with these folk in Stilfontein, reality can really strike home when you have left your wife and kids because of a dream!  Unfortunately John did divorce his wife, and he married Susan.

Spirit word ministries should have the framed divorce certificate up on the wall next to those crutches, why hide such a thing if it was condoned by God through the confirmation of a dream.

If you take some time to reflect on this you may ask yourself, what else is this "prophet" capable of? He has the ability to destroy a family and get away with it. How many other "dreams" will he have in the future? Perhaps he will dream about your husband or wife and play holy match maker.

I must add in my closing that John is a wealthy business man, he is by no means uneducated only foolish.

Many men come in the name of God with an agenda, the bible warns of such men. With the truthful evidence presented to you in this article you can decide for yourself. Judge a tree by its fruit. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck and looks like a duck then it's a duck.

  1. And a year later he is healed... I suggest you stop criticizing and start seeking God as Prophet Kobus has... If he is such a liar and false teacher then why on earth would God have healed him... Man there are too many of you "religious nuts" out there.. God is looking for people to bare fruit not nuts. My suggestion to you is that you go down on your knees and ask God to remove the critical spirit that has taken up residence in you... People are healed according to their faith, remember the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years who touched Jesus garment, what did Jesus say to her - Woman YOUR faith has made you whole. So if people are not getting their healing it only means one thing, they are doubting GOD'S ability.. Enough said!!!

    1. Dear Meredith, with extreme interest have I read your dribble. Apparently he was not healed - he died! If people are healed according to their faith (as you claim), he then should still be alive and so should millions of others. It is therefore painfully obvious (as per your definition) that his faith was not strong and that he was a liar and a false teacher and that he doubted his god's ability to heal. Therefore he is a false "prophet" and everything he did was false. He milked people for their money using one of the most basic of processes.
So please stop and think before you ink! Maybe you want to re-think the religion-thing again.....

    3. Kobus was saying there would be time when immortality will take place, we ought to pray ask God or seek grace. With Christ anything is possible. Due to his sickness ,Kobus growned to God and wait for the grace, God grace was showned countless times in Kobus life.We all have faith and hope in God for many things including everlasting life. Coming to Kobus prayers over immortality God answered to him it was loud and cleared that it was not in flesh or canal body.I admired his faith more than anything and his sickness brought him closer or intimate with God even more.

  2. True.. prophet was sick while he was preaching Immortality. That's the beauty of it. "I lay before you life and death, choose life". That is the reason why , in his dying state he was able to choose life over death. He showed the world how to lay hold life and he succeeded. If he was a man in good health preaching immortality, no one could have received anything. Things are different when someone walks the talk.
And someone seeing a dream two people getting married does not mean it is "approved and accepted".

  3. If you think immortality is not bibilical just read Romans 8:11 it says if the spirit of Him that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who Raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you, then you understand that what do you believe the entire Bible or just in part if in part you are in wreck but the bible speaks more about immortality and am able without fear to say I will live & not die the grave has no place for me read John 11: 26 then you will undersatnd if you are abeliever or not.on the dream part you know the truth

  4. I do not know what the situation is between "John" and "Susan" and Prophet Kobus. I don't think any of us know because we were not directly involved, so to judge from the sideline casually is not called for.

What I do know is that in Hebrews there were faith heroes who trusted and believed God for things they never themselves entered in, but a next generation did.

The experience of somebody's healing or not, or death or not does not validate Scripture. Scripture is true regardless of our or another's experience. Even though Kobus van Rensburg passed on this morning, it changes nothing of truth. Truth is timeless. He was a groundbreaker and he needs to be honoured for the gift he was and is to the body of Christ.

  5. Pastor Kobus minisrtry was a blessing to me and my husband as it is also my husbands ministry to pray for the sick. My husband was healed 27years ago of terminal cancer through prayer and today he is the proof that Jesus Christ our Lord HEALS! He had prayed for many and by their faith and Gods power they were healed. So all I can say is Jesus isyesterday, today and forever the same AMEN

  6. I think everybody dare not say anything about the prophet especially now that he has passed. But to you the writer, who seems very hurt. Perhaps you are 'John's' wife- I dont know. I'm sorry at what you had to go through. Whatever the situation was, God has something for you and your family. Guard your heart, so that you can see the goodness of God toward you. Be blessed!

  9. It matters not what you guys believe ,I personally think the prophet was a great man of GOD ,death touches us all ,how we die is not important ,The most important fact is what happens afterwards ,and there is hope according to the bible of those who sleep in death having accepted Jesus ,people don't like to be judge ,unbelievers hate it when they are judged by church folk ,so please do us that Same favor and stop judging the prophet ,JESUS himself suffered abusive words from those who doubted him ,they even asked Him to save himself as he did countless others ,they even said he must come down from the cross and they would believe in him if he did ,but when GOD has a purpose he will do it in his own way not to please any one of us or prove anything ,He already created this complex world what else do people need as prove that there is a GOD out there, this world couldn't have created itself ,so please whether some people think prophet kobus was a fake or not I admired the man ,GOD called him home let those who were and are touched by his ministry mourn his passing .

  10. Dear writer, sad as it is, we are not to judge, leaders in the house of GOD are mere humans, not God, therefore don't expect 110% perfection. If JESUS tarrys we all are going to die someday" death is inevitable. What we so do is to make our way right before our CREATOR KING, inorder to live with him enternally, we have passed to the great beyond... Un deniable, he(van kobus) was a great man, a great teacher of the word of GOD, of which I am blessed by GOD through him, .. May his soul in the bossom of the Lord, Amen!

  11. I think its unfortunate that people would attack someone for writing a blog about one incident allegedly involving Kobus. What would happen should someone write an entire book then?Kobus was human hence his mortality and thus what he did behind closed doors only those involved and God of course would know.I personally don't want to judge him for I don't know what transpired between "John" and "Susan" but equally so its very hypocritical to attack the writer of this piece and still call yourself a christian.Jesus Christ himself was persecuted so who is Kobus after all?He even said to His disciples they would be persecuted in His name. This blog is thought provoking and I think it served its purpose as it made people talk but most importantly highlited the fact that no matter how "great" a person may be in your eyes(emphasis) because that's subjective they will never be Jesus Christ. The problem with some christians is that they tend to follow or worship if you may their church leaders instead of God forgetting that He is a jealous God.In closing,I want to repeat that I'm in no way saying the writer is right but who are you to say he is not!Honour Kobus by praying for his departed soul instead of attacking the writer because the truth will prevail one day.I mean let's say for argument sake this is true, what are you then saying about John's poor family? That it is fine because Kobus had a dream about it?We should pride ourselves as christians in honesty, justice and tolerance towards everyone including those we don't agree with.

  12. Let me attempt to judge with compassion.

The word of God is final arbiter.

It is not affected by what people, believe, do not believe, say or do not say, do or do not do.

God is a healer. He still heals today.

People actions, inaction, words or no words cannot change that.

John is a grown man. If the prophet dreamed that you went to hell, would you go to hell? Prophecy is something you use to war. The woman in question is a grown woman also. Let's not blame God for adult decisions.

God exalts His word above His name. John had the choice to respond to God's word but he followed his flesh and not a dream. It was his choice.

The prophet is still a man. The most important thing is that he fulfilled the call of God on his life. He did not come to please any man, woman, boy or girl. He came to please God but he is not perfect.

I never knew him but he must have been a great man to in all his humanity speak what God says. God knows where his son is. The rest of us should go and ensure that our eternity is covered and stop looking for sensationalism.

  13. Christianity is about life,to go to heaven you don't have to die or be in flesh and blood but you must be changed what we know is that we'll live that's what the bible says,.,Kobus was right..the word immortality is there in the bible

  14. I'm not here to judge but what I want to say is, the Bible says, not all that say lord lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. Also we cannot prove that we are Christians by abandone death. Jesus was the son of God and Jesus is God, noone can enter the kingdom of heaven without him, you know what Jesus is a victim of death but he had power over death he died then. God only knows who kobus was but good part of it, he changed some people's lives. Do not judge that you will not be judged. GOD BLESS YOU ALL
